A Prurient Start to 2018…

I didn’t know the meaning of the term prurience until very recently when I had the pleasure of a Facetime casting meeting with UK based creative duo Christopher Green (Writer/Director and Entertainer Extraordinaire)

www.ChristopherGreen.net   and Holly Race Roughan (Director People, Places & Things) @HollyRoughan

The definition of prurience is:

  1. having, inclined to have, or characterized by lascivious or lustful thoughts, desires, etc. 2. causing lasciviousness or lust. 3. having a restless desire or longing. Origin of prurient.

It also happens to be the title of the latest project I’m casting…

Prurience

After interviewing neuroscientists, sociologists, addiction experts, and therapists, writer and performer Christopher Green presents an immersive theater experience inviting audiences to attend a fictional self-help group that takes a playful look at how sex and pornography are consumed. Questioning the side effects of porn consumption, Green asks audiences to consider if society is in the grip of an actual addiction or a moral panic, through increasingly distorting layers of reality and theatricality. Expect witty observations, surprises, and more than a few laughs. Tickets: $45, $40 members and Friends of Works & Process. http://gu.gg/yxAG30h9z4y Photo: James Norton
