From Hospital to Set, a Year’s End, Sundance and New Beginnings

This update begins with the aftermath of our  October 30th shoot for our feature documentary And..Scene, a Woman’s Journey to Walk Again.  A gorgeous fall day, lit by the sun’s luminous, celestial light was ideal for an outside shoot. Talented  Director of Photography , Cybel Martin www.cybeldp.com had the glory of Fifth Avenue and majesty of Central Park as her canvas.  After waiting months for clearance and changing study sites, we were granted permission to finally film  our subject, Jamie Petrone walking in a robotic exoskeleton.  I have to give profound thanks to the warm team of the Bionic’s Clinical Research Program/Rehabilitative Medicine  department at Mount Sinai Hospital.  We had limited time and access to shoot Jamie, her medical team, parents and on lookers along Central Park.  Thanks to our crew: Sound Mixer Tyson Dai, Production Coordinator Alexandra Campos and Key PA, Jacinto Romero, we managed to get a full day’s  worth of footage including interviews of key medical personnel in half the time.

Unfortunately the day took it’s toll on our subject Jamie.  After the exhausting stress on her body of walking for the shoot and a case of food poisoning in the evening, Jamie wound up in a CT. hospital due to a series of factors which compromised her immune system. While in the hospital she booked a minor role for a major network TV show (to be disclosed at a future date) with the potential for it to evolve into a recurring speaking part.  In “Jamie” style she actually left the hospital against Doctor’s orders, worked and then re-admitted herself!  She was discharged a few days later, and thankfully getting better over time.  This amazing turn of events has shifted the narrative of the doc to express the theme of doing whatever it takes to live your life. She has already filmed the TV show numerous times and is now considered family on set.

Our master editor Craig Williams of www.redwallproductions.com has just cut our newest teaser.  His genius and generous spirit is breathing life into our story. You can check it out here http://iaintplayin.wix.com/andscene

A special thank you goes to Terry Lawler Executive Director of New York Women in Film & Television www.nywift.org who expedited my membership after viewing the new teaser.
