Spring/Summer Ain’t Playin’ and Neither am I.

Hello! This is the first time a quarterly post has been delayed so I decided to post a combo situation, merging the current and upcoming seasons. 2026 has been a non-stop whirlwind of navigating multiple projects, commitments and remaining as calm and stable as possible in the chaos.  I am one who  always strives to live in the storm’s eye.

I broke this time period down into 3 takeaways:

  1. Getting grounded leads you to higher ground.
  2. Seeking relief is seeking happiness.
  3. Micro dose everything, meaning pace every step, word and action as best you can.

Welcome to the SPRING/SUMMER 2026 Update!

The spring emerging into summer season has been filled with great projects, collaborators and community activity. It has been an an honor and priviedge to lead a life filled with creative adventure and challenges worth striving for.

TANGIBLE TAKEAWAY S

I had the pleasure to participate on an indie filmmaking panel hosted by the wonderful production company Light House Ladies and moderated by former student now collaborator, Sonia Victoria Werner. Connections were made and new alliances formed. It was rewarding to be in a space of talented creatives and future colleagues.

Our feature film Barrio Boy screened in 2024 at the fabulous Newark LGBTQ film festival. This year I was invited to be a juror and panelist which was an absolute honor and enriching experience. I give  this festival the highest recommendation.

Our film festival world premiere for our short exploring intergenerational queerness and dying on one’s terms, The Last Day of Byron Bray was at the Oscar qualifying Florida Film Festival. The film won 2 awards, which had only occurred one other time in 35 years! Jury Prize and Audience Favorite. Additionally the quirky and tender short, CAKE which I cast was also a festival official selection.

The joy of  the accolades of the Florida Film festival morphed in to The Last Day of Byron Bray’s participation in The Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival. The film is generating well deserved buzz and I couldn’t be prouder of the collaborative we shared as a team.  In the midst of all the activity participating in Cannes, the team learned that The Last Day of Byron Bray was accepted into its second Oscar Qualifying festival at the IMG_1865prestigious Indy Shorts Film Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In casting news, I had the pleasure to cast 2 compelling and dark shorts:

Pedigree, written and directed by Michelle Tang and produced by Princeton Professor, Moon Molson, Tyler Wilson and myself is a comedic thriller with a twist. It is currently in post and I’m excited for how it will be received.  Also in post, Dear Mr. IMG_1864 (1) President, written/directed by Alam Singh and produced by Sarab Sahni is a somber examination of grief and the toll government and politics take is a bold artistic and subversive act.

On the producing front I am thrilled to be co producing with Director/Co-writer and Stonestreet Studios Co-Founder on the stark short, State Crossed Lovers which is in active pre-production and slated to start shooting June 2026.

Additionally, 2 ambitious features are in the early days of development. I look forward to mention them along with other news in the late summer/early fall update.

In the meantime I wish all of you the relief of being grounded and well paced during these turbulent and beautiful times.

Love,

Liz
